The recent publication by Prof. Agata Mirek

In April 2021, Routledge published a book entitled "The Transformation of Religious Orders in Central and Eastern Europe. Sociological Insights” edited by Stefania Palmisano, Isabelle Jonveaux and Marcin Jewdokimow.

The first volume is devoted to various aspects of contemporary changes in consecrated life in selected Central and Eastern European countries and presents a series of studies on Catholic and Orthodox monasticism. Bringing together research from different places in Central and Eastern Europe, the publication presents the transformations of religious life from a social perspective to researchers and students of sociology, religious studies and theology who are interested in religious orders.

Prof. Agata Mirek, as the author of one of the chapters, in the text "Female religious congregations in Poland in the face of changes from Communism to the transformation period (1945–2000)” discusses issues which are in line with the main assumptions of the publication: attention to changes in the economy, everyday life, organisation and social presence of religious orders, and shedding light on social and cultural processes of the 20th and 21st centuries - such as communism and its decline or the development of new communication technologies.
