Sacral building of the Lublin diocese in the years 1945-1992, Joanna Kumor-Mielnik, PhD

This ongoing project is part of a broader research issue, which aims to characterise sacral building in the (arch)diocese of Lublin from 1918 to the present day. Its final outcome will be a scientific monograph.

Gathering the archival material was the first stage of research. The next one, which is being carried out at the moment, aims at systematising the collected material, which is a time-consuming activity due to the wide chronological and spatial range of the investigated issue, but also a vast array of problems concerning the relations between the state and the Lublin Church during the period of the People's Republic of Poland, which cannot be omitted with such a formulated research topic. The project also aims to show the great work of Archbishop Bolesław Pylak, which is undoubtedly a network of new churches and chapels on the present territory of the Archdiocese of Lublin. Moreover, the publication will present in detail the attitude of the Communist Party and state authorities towards sacral construction in the Lublin diocese.
